Assabet River Bicycles Deadline: Fri May 21, 2010 Prize Amount: $130
I need a logo and color scheme for a new bicycle store that will specialize in building and supporting a bicycling community in the town of Hudson Massachusetts. The store will sell new and used bicycles, rent bikes for a nearby rail-trail and provide products and training services to support human powered transportation.
About Assabet River Bicycles
The shop specializes in buying and selling new and used bicycles, bike repair, restoration, rebuilding, rental, and general support of the local bicycling community through rides, training classes, and sponsorships. The logo should be applicable to signage, clothing, water bottles, and other general marketing applications.
Read the briefSubmit Entry
I would like to have a distinctive logo that helps identify the shop with both the mission to support the local riding community as well as the shop's location. The shop will have everything from 19th century high wheelers to Sting Ray bikes of the 60's to modern road bikes. I will be selling all accessories related to bicycling as well.
In addition the store will have weekly group rides, provide service training and repair classes, and sponsor local community activities, including service for the nearby Assabet River Rail Trail.
Looking For
I need a business logo for my new bicycle shop located on the Assabet River in Hudson, MA. This logo will be used both in the shop signage as well as on bike jerseys, T-shirts and other promotional materials.
Not Looking For
Anything that might be confused with motorcycles, i.e. cycles etc. or any existing local cycle shops, specifically a large gear as the primary image.

I like the bridge and the color scheme, but I would like something that has some bicycle elements as well. Maybe tying the CYC in Bicycles together in a stylized bicycle image might work. Also a different font would be interesting to look at as well. |

Oops, the "I" in "BICYCLES" is too tall and looks like an "L". I corrected this in the other submissions. |

I made the bridge shorter and the letters taller for better balance. |

I've tried two futuristic style fonts to give a feeling of motion and technical design. Please let me know if you have other font ideas. |

I have made the "CYC" a bit heavier to improve readability. |

I like the look of the bicycle, try making it stand out more with another color, maybe red. Try a white background with colored letters. Less emphasis on the bridge and make Assabet River smaller and Bicycles bigger. I like a less modern font, we are dealing with retro bicycles so go for a more retro font, try a font with serif. Also please set the logo as a square. Try putting Assabet over River and Bicycles larger and to the right. Thanks |

This is closer. Try dropping the Assabet and River so they are at the same level as the Bicycles element but still on top of each other. Also, try to stylize the Y in bicycles so one tip of the Y top has the same handlebar image in the full bike you have here, and the other top of the Y has a seat but do the Y in more of a Times font so the Y is symetrical. The Y then becomes the entire frame of the bike and the two Cs are the wheels, but just with a center dot for the wheel hub so it looks like you are just seeing one half of each wheel. I hope that makes sense. |

The bicycle looks like the front is receding so I flipped the bridge to match the perspective of the bicycle. |

Lets try the font from submission #1. Fill the white space with the words like in #14 but enlarge the Bicycles part as well. Try removing the pedal element to the Y, and I like the way this is looking just using the Y for the bike. Try eliminating the front of the wheels so that the letters Cs come to a point then vanish, keep the dot in the center, closer to what you have done in #14. |

very cool looking bike. I think I like the bottom one on the lighter background. Can you make the Assabet River elements slightly larger. Thanks |

How about the bike in red for the bottom and make Bicycles red as well. The town color is red. Thanks |

Assabet with 2 Ss. On the Y drop the top of the handlebars and seat and remove the bottom of the Y, take the tips off the Cs so they are round. Enlarge the words and shrink the blue water element. Not sure the CYC in the reflection works. |
