Read the briefSubmit Entry
*One or Two color max
Since it will be for both little girls and little boys, please design it so it can possibly be made in one color for boys and maybe another color for girls. Or just one or two colors that will appeal to both sexes. The good thing is, I don't think most children/parents will be as concerned with the color/colors being masculine or feminine, since it is the Tooth Fairy, and most people think of the Tooth Fairy as female. Prefer pastel colors.
*It will be digitally printed, so whatever colors you use, keep that in mind.
FIRST THE CARD:
Fold over card – Dimension were actually posted incorrectly. They should be 8.5 x 2.75; Folded to 4.25 (height) x 2.75n (width)
FRONT (PAGE 1) Should say at top: Welcome Tooth Fairy!
Dear Tooth Fairy:
Please take good care of my baby tooth. It took me a really long time to grow it.
Love & Kisses,
(line for child's signature)______________________________
P.S. I promise to be really good and to brush my teeth - even when I don't feel like it.
INSIDE (PAGE TWO and THREE):
Should have two columns: one for date & one for Tooth Fairy initials; title it "RECORD OF TOOTH FAIRY VISITS"
(Most children lose about 20 baby teeth; if you have enough space, put 20 entries; if you don't, put at least 10 spaces.)
THE BACK (OR 4TH SIDE) should just have design to match cover.
Two of my logo designs are attached. The wide, rectangular one has been used at the bottom of cards. Use whatever one fits with your design on the back card.
Now for the matching "banner": it should be 1 3/4" (width) x 1" (height). It can be oval or rectangular - whatever matches your Tooth Fairy design. It should read: My Tooth. Handle with Care.
Looking For
Looking to have someone design a fold over TOOTH FAIRY card with matching banner.
*When you design this, hopefully the words that will come to mind are: beautiful/pretty, absolutely adorable, charming, irresistable, sweet and/or magical. Must appeal primarilly to mothers. Very feminine - even for the boys.
If the tooth fairy is old, I thought maybe grandmotherly, maybe with a bun; if the tooth fairy is young, I thought a lot of wispy hair and ribbons - even in silhouette.
I love polka dots, stripes and checks and wouldn't mind one or more as a background or incorporated into the design. (I love mixing two compatible prints.) Stars are good, too. If it'll help, check out the following designs on Fotolia.com which incorporate elements that I like - 21085192, 22996173,22994038, 22161257, 20576308, 15662455, 13569282, 25621030, 22996553. 26265468, 13699527, 13208933, 23006841, 21426440, 2296418, and 21410405 has an interesting layout.
Good luck!
Not Looking For
nothing scary or harsh
No teeth with faces.
The tooth fairy can be young or old, but it should be more of a silhouette, instead of something more definitive. Want it to appeal to all ethnicities. Keep in mind that not every kid is white with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Thank you so much for your submittal. I really appreciate the time and effort it must have taken. It is very creative, but it's really not quite what I'm looking for.
This is the first time I have ever done this, and I now realize that I wasn't as definitive about what I wanted as I thought. I am so sorry.
I really don't care for the colors you used. I can see why you went with them, but I only wanted one or two max, and what I didn't say - and should have - is that I prefer more pastel shades.
Also, I am not big on the humanized teeth. I really want it to be pretty and perhaps a little more feminine.
I do like the way you laid out the inside of the card. You made it more than just a bunch of lines.
Also, what I meant by a "folover card" is a card that is folded at the top, not on the side. Again, I probably was not as specific as I should have been.
Is this card the dimensions I provided? It looks larger. It's so difficult to tell.
Also, I would like the letter to the Tooth Fairy to be a little more predominant.
I hope this helps!
Thanks again for your help. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By Razzz Comments: 442, member since Sun Jun 25, 2006On Thu Oct 14, 2010 05:35 AM
Edited by Razzz (457) on 2010-10-14 05:38:00 size clarification.
Thank you for the feedback. It was really helpful. I submited another vesrion that is, I hope, more like what you're looking for.
Made 2 versions in different colors, one for boys and one for girls.
L.E: About the size, the ones I uploaded are a little larger so details are more visible. It really depends on what size I export them to .jpeg's.
The final files, if it will be the case, will be the size you requested. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By ThreeFineMinds Contest Holder Comments: 52, member since Mon Sep 27, 2010On Thu Oct 14, 2010 11:44 PM
this is definitely better, but I'm just not in love. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By ThreeFineMinds Contest Holder Comments: 52, member since Mon Sep 27, 2010On Fri Oct 15, 2010 03:03 PM
Sorry for the delay in responding. I was trying to think about what would make me love this design.
I think it is indeed better - or actually - more what I was looking for, because I don't mean to imply that the first one wasn't good; it just wasn't "me". I don't know if you're a man or woman, but the first design strikes me as possibly more masculine aesthetics. I'm definitely looking for more feminity here.
Anyway, what I was wondering is: what could you do to make this design a little more sophisticated? Pretty and sophisticated, but still appeal to a mother with children. For example, the moon with a smiley face is probably a little more cute than I wanted.
Again, I would like the note to the Tooth Fairy to be a little more predominant.
Please see my corrections that I made with regard to the size.
I just Googled tooth fairy and saw the design you chose. Is there something you can do to make the design more your own, so it's not immediately recognizable.
I don't know if this will just be more confusing or will spark your creativity, but when I googled the Tooth Fairy, I saw a pillow that was done in both blue and pink - incorporating stripes and polka dots. See if you can find it. It has a big tooth in the center. I'm not much into the tooth, but is there a way to incorporate a stripe and polka dot print in the background - it can be on the same page or not - and just keep the design simple with a fairy and stars in the foreground? | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By Razzz Comments: 442, member since Sun Jun 25, 2006On Fri Oct 15, 2010 05:55 PM
Made a different version.
It's simpler, cleaner. I replaced the polka dots with stars, I think it looks nicer. Tried to squeeze some stripes in there, not much, just to spice up the overall feeling of the card.
I think that now the tooth fairy note is predominant enough, as it takes up probably 80% of the front of the card. Also, adjusted the tooth fairy so it won't be immediately recognizable and added stars that are coming out of her wings when she's flying.
Saw the change in the brief about the size and made them accordingly.
And btw, you were right, I'm a man | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By zyndtel Comments: 58, member since Thu Mar 26, 2009On Mon Oct 18, 2010 01:50 PM

Very pretty, but would you please read the specifications again. I have edited them some. For example, size is wrong.
As pretty as it is, my logo doesn't have to be quite as large. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By zyndtel Comments: 58, member since Thu Mar 26, 2009On Tue Oct 19, 2010 10:06 AM

Thank you for the feedback. So sorry I think I got confused with the sizes. Hope this is the right one. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By ThreeFineMinds Contest Holder Comments: 52, member since Mon Sep 27, 2010On Tue Oct 19, 2010 09:40 PM
Your choice of colors is nice. very pretty; can't make out a lot of the background design though. What it is exactly?
The sizing, unfortunately, is completely wrong. Please re-read the instructions, not just for size, but for other tips.
I like the wand and the stars, but not completely thrilled with the fairy. Can you soften her a little? I know I said something about wanting my design to be a little more sophisticated as a comment to the other artist, but I think your fairy is just a little too much so. She's the adult version. Can we get a more childlike version? I hope that makes sense. Let me know if it doesn't. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By ThreeFineMinds Contest Holder Comments: 52, member since Mon Sep 27, 2010On Tue Oct 19, 2010 11:36 PM
Unfortunately, the size is still wrong. Don't care for the color of the fairy. Please check over the instructions. Here's the correct size now. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By ThreeFineMinds Contest Holder Comments: 52, member since Mon Sep 27, 2010On Wed Oct 20, 2010 03:57 PM
Thank you. While this wasn't what I had in mind, it is actually very pretty and unique.
You definitely softened the Fairy. thanks. Regarding her wings: I like their shape, but can you make them a little wider/bigger. I think they're a little too sharp. Her outfit looks like a ballerina - like she's wearing a tutu - can you make it more of a dress?
What about the matching banner? | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By ThreeFineMinds Contest Holder Comments: 52, member since Mon Sep 27, 2010On Wed Oct 20, 2010 04:01 PM
I really appreciate your efforts. Thank you!
This size is more like it. Did you read my contest brief and look at the examples I provided?
As I said, I would prefer the letter to be the dominant feature of the front page. Instead of boxing the fairy, how about boxing the letter? Or making it look more like a letter? | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By ThreeFineMinds Contest Holder Comments: 52, member since Mon Sep 27, 2010On Wed Oct 20, 2010 04:05 PM
One more thing: what I was trying to convey in my instructions was that I love stripes, checks and polka dots - round polka dots. The polka dots can be big, they don't have to be small, and they can be background. I like mixing prints like the samples I provided. You can take the fairy and place her on top of a background of stripes and/or checks and/or polka dots, but with stars in a white or whatever will show against such a background. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By ThreeFineMinds Contest Holder Comments: 52, member since Mon Sep 27, 2010On Wed Oct 20, 2010 04:13 PM
One other question: did you look at the samples I provided? | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By zyndtel Comments: 58, member since Thu Mar 26, 2009On Thu Oct 21, 2010 12:05 AM
Hello here's the banner and with changes on the dress and wings. If I can make it to the deadline I will try to make another design based on your examples. | |

Thank you for making the changes.
What you did was really pretty - you are indeed both talented and creative - but please do try to submit something based on the examples provided. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By Razzz Comments: 442, member since Sun Jun 25, 2006On Thu Oct 21, 2010 01:30 AM
What all your samples have in coomon is that they have very little or no text at all. The image you are trying to convey doesn't match your desire that the letter should be the main focus on the card. You're saying two different things.
And the letter is in a box, it's just that it isn't in a white one. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By ThreeFineMinds Contest Holder Comments: 52, member since Mon Sep 27, 2010On Thu Oct 21, 2010 08:34 AM
Thank you for your response.
All of those samples were merely to show you a print that I liked perhaps for you to incorporate into the background of your design. Because I realized that there are so many versions of stripes and polka dots, etc., I thought perhaps if I actually provided samples, it would make it easier. There was even one that showed three layers of a design, which may be a way to incorporate a mixture of two prints - or not. I was hoping it would help you get an idea of what I was talking about. I really like mixing two compatible prints. I thought if it were done right, the stars and the fairy and the letter could be worked into or on top of the prints. Does that make sense?
You have worked so hard on this, and I really appreciate your efforts. There is no doubt that you are both talented and skillful. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By ThreeFineMinds Contest Holder Comments: 52, member since Mon Sep 27, 2010On Thu Oct 21, 2010 08:45 AM
Sorry - didn't address one of your issues.
The letter to the Tooth Fairy in your design looks like it is just text at the bottom of the card. I would like it to look more like a letter. Hopefully that makes sense, but if it doesn't, please let me know and I will try to find examples.
Same goes for the print. | re: need foldover tooth fairy card design & matching banner en>fr fr>en By Razzz Comments: 442, member since Sun Jun 25, 2006On Thu Oct 21, 2010 10:00 AM
