I think what I'm not liking about the blue is the shades. Too Dark. So I found one blue that perhaps you could put with white in the strip area. Fotolia.com: 21181944
If this doesn't work, I actually found myself being attracted to a combination of aqua and purple/lavender: Fotolia.com: 26494037, 6454509, 14775731, 13995083. Maybe aqua and white with the purple accent. Unless you do pale shades of both so it's not too overwhelming.
